About Therapy

Img 1Navigating life alone is challenging.

Everyone needs some help along the way, especially given the complexity of life at present. Making ends meet, dealing with family issues, maintaining a positive relationship with your spouse, raising children, and working to keep your head above water require considerable time.

Dealing with those demands makes you wonder, “I need some me-time because I feel at the end of my rope. Therapy sounds like a viable option, but will others think I cannot face challenges without help?”

Perhaps it is time to rethink how you view therapy. Consider therapy a time to gain the proper perspective about your life, allowing you to grow confidently and face challenges.

Therapy offers benefits.

Therapy allows you to increase joy in your life so that old messages and beliefs do not distract you from enjoying family/friends and your life.

Calm and peace are derived from taking the time to step out of life’s challenges and using tools to embrace life to the fullest.

You can also increase your physical health and learn to manage anxiety and stress using research-proven methods.

Consider therapy a time to improve relationships, find a balance in your daily life, and learn ways to address your challenges.

Img 1394Providing compassionate support is my role.

I do not have all the answers, but I offer tools to help you improve your mental and emotional well-being.

My therapeutic approach is designed to meet your specific needs. Our first step involves establishing a working relationship focusing on your needs. Then, we can start identifying the issues you want to address and digging deeper to find the best approach.

In our sessions, I will introduce various tools that can be used outside of them to aid in maintaining balance in life’s challenges. I also will assist in getting out of your head and into your core being so you can face and resolve old issues holding you back from being your true self.

Through working together, my goal is that you will gain insight and decrease the power of old messages or experiences that hold you back from moving forward.

About Paul Mefford, Mth, LCSW

AdminHelping others is a life-long mission.

Growing up, my parents modeled looking out for neighbors and each other in the family. I remember how grateful they were for my compassion and care.

That commitment to caretaking and being a good neighbor was the foundation of a journey of learning, which included experiences with ways to aid others on their journeys of personal growth and awareness.

Part of that experience involved obtaining the educational training to become a licensed clinical social worker who can practice in Kentucky and Indiana. I also received training in Pastoral Counseling, Individual and Couples Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), LGBTQ+ issues, overuse of various substances, and EFT tapping.

I have been blessed with supervisors who challenged me in my journey, so I am better prepared to assist my clients in their journeys.

When I am not in my office…

I enjoy being outside in the garden, enjoying nature, tending to our chickens (Silkies are shown in this photo), and serving others in my community.

Part of my week also involves regular exercise, meditation, and Tai Chi.
